Experience with evolving interventions

Vagus nerve stimulation

Dr. Pelta was the first clinician in the United States to use vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for treatment-resistant depression. This early experience reflects a longstanding interest in carefully integrating emerging interventions into psychiatric practice.

Electroconvulsive therapy

Dr. Pelta has extensive experience with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), an established treatment option that can be considered in appropriate clinical circumstances for severe and treatment-resistant depression.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation

His work also includes extensive experience with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a noninvasive treatment approach used in the care of treatment-resistant depression.
